It’s been a full week in Wandering Pine World and I wanted to give an update and check in to see how you are all doing. I was supposed to be backpacking the Kekekabic Trail last weekend and officially cancelled my Memorial Day Sioux Hustler Trail Boundary Waters Trip. It was a personal decision, but I feel good about choosing to stay close to home to help protect smaller communities. ICYMI, there were some changes in the COVID-19 Stay at Home Order in MN this week, so make sure you are up to date on the latest outdoor activity guidelines and recreate safely.
Gimme the Bloopers!
If you need a little day brightener and are missing the trail…or if you just want to hear me scare off the wildlife and rain with my fabulous singing…here’s a little video I put together that highlights some of the funnier moments on my SHT LASH. It’s possible that only the people in this video will find any of this humorous, but I’m ok with that. We all need a laugh right now, so I’m sharing it with you.
Let it Grow!
I’ve been spending a lot of time in my greenhouse and preparing my garden for the summer in between working from home. My instagram story is full of growing plants and garden projects these days. If you want to see what’s up in the green house, head on over and check it out.
Hack, snip, sew, repeat…
Last night I spent a few hours immersed in a thick plot to find a way to add doors to my beloved Enlightened Equipment Paladin Tarp with only gear I have on hand around the house. Not every tarp dweller needs doors, but I found myself cold on my last leg of the SHT last year and trying to make a door out of my umbrella, tree trunk, backpack, etc. It would be nice to have a little privacy too—peek a boo! If this works, I’ll sleep in it tonight and post a video of my hack. If it doesn’t work, I had fun prototyping anyway!
What’s next?
A week ago, we had frost on the trail and we’re finally headed for some warm spring temps. I’m still plugging away on my May challenge to complete the requirements of the Hiking Merit Badge and have hopes to pull off a pretty amazing micro-adventure that I have been dreaming about. If you would like to stay updated, hit the ‘start wandering’ button at the top of this page or subscribe via email.
What are you up to this week? Whatever it is, I hope you able to find time to go outside and do the things that make your heart sparkle.
Happy Trails!
