Earlier this Spring, I had the opportunity to talk to Julie from the “Jester” Section Hikers Podcast about my Superior Hiking Trail LASH. We had recorded an earlier session in the winter, but something happened to the audio, so we got to do it again! She was a joy to talk to and I left each interview feeling like I had a new friend. Not only is Julie super-fun to talk to, she has section hiked the entire Appalachian Trail and is on her way to doing it again! Dang! I love that she puts the spotlight on section hikers and encourages everyone to get out there, section by section, and enjoy the trail.

The “Jester” Section Hiker is the premier podcast with the spotlight on section hikers!

The stories you will hear are about everyday people who, in addition to their everyday lives, make the commitment to hike long-distance trails where every section is a new beginning.

From National Scenic Trails to National Parks and all Trails in between, listen with your host, Julie “Jester” Gayheart, to hear what it means to be a section hiker and the adventure that awaits them section by section

I had another interview with Lori Prima at “The Hike” Podcast last Fall, right after finishing the trail and remember still processing all of the fresh feelings, reflections and gratitude that come after a big wild accomplishment. I’m grateful to have been able to share my story at these two different points in time.

My interview with Julie occurred a few months later and mainly focuses on shifting my mindset from thru-hiker to section hiker and the joy and purpose I found in a Plan B. It was fun to talk about our perilous first day on the trail, nasty feet, the Section Hiker Mantra, and finding ways to stay motivated and involved, (even during a pandemic)

I hope you will give it a listen. You might even find it entertaining if you are not planning a Long Awesome Section Hike. #wearehilarious

Ever heard of a “Long Awesome Section Hike”? Jen Theisen aka “Wandering Pine” joins Jester on this Episode of the Podcast to share her LASH of the Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota. Jen shares with us the history of how she deemed herself “Wandering Pine”, how her somewhat of a “mid-life” crisis led her to the challenge of completing the SHT, and we also hear her version of the 52 Hike Challenge. You will find her passion inspiring when it comes to working with the Granite Gear Groundskeepers, Women Who Hike, and being a good steward of our trails and waterways. Thanks for sharing your passion for the outdoors with us on the podcast! Hope you enjoy and happy Section Hiking!
